MOSCOW The visiting Head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) Gholam Reza Aqazadeh here Monday stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has no intention of producing nuclear weapons. Speaking to reporters, he dismissed baseless U.S. claims. Aqazadeh said that Washington has been assisting the Zionist regime to expand its nuclear weapons programs and therefore its policies on non-proliferation of atomic weapons is nothing but a deceit Resort of the Zionist regime to nuclear weapons poses a serious threat to regional peace and stability, he said.

While Washington is helping the Zionist regime with its nuclear programs it should not expect arms race not to start in the region. Referring to India's recent nuclear tests, Aqazadeh said that Iran is against any kind of nuclear test by any country. The Islamic Republic is of the belief that if Washington is committed to its policies on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, it should prove it by cutting its aid for development of Zionist nuclear projects.

Meanwhile, the Russian Minister of Nuclear Energy Yevgeni Adamov stressed the peaceful nature of Tehran-Moscow nuclear cooperation. The Iranian experts used to be trained in Russia in the field of nuclear energy before the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, he added. He said that completion of Bushehr nuclear power plant will not help Iran acquire nuclear technology. (IRNA)
